Who am I?

Hi, I’m Adrian. At this stage of life, I like to say I’ve seen just about everything and worked with just about everyone. For more than 25 years I’ve been in counselling, psychology, and community related fields, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that people are tougher than they think, but nobody should have to go through life’s challenges on their own.

I started out studying Youth Affairs at La Trobe University, went on to complete a Diploma and a Masters in Clinical Family Therapy at Swinburne, and later trained in Gestalt Therapy. I’ve worked everywhere from Beechworth Prison to men’s homeless shelters, aged care facilities, mental health services, and even with disadvantaged street kids. I also set up the Big Brother Big Sister Program in Wangaratta (First Edition), which matched young people with mentors who could give them the support they were missing. Each role has given me stories, lessons, and a deep appreciation for people’s ability to get back up, even after tough times.

But life’s not all work. I’m a dad to two grown sons, Lucas and James, who keep me proud as they carve out their own paths in life. I’m a husband to a wonderful wife, Janine, and I share my home with two German Shepherds who think they run the place. I love getting outdoors, whether it’s cycling, swimming, or just walking the dogs in the park. Music has also been a lifelong passion of mine. I’ve played the drums since I was a child, performing in bands, creating music, and playing gigs across the country. These days, I still keep the beat alive as part of a local band.

If there’s one thing people usually notice about me, it’s that I like to keep things real with a sprinkling of humour. I’m down-to-earth, and I’ll tell you how it is but I’ll also stand in your corner when it matters. For me, counselling has never just been about talking. It’s about finding real solutions and helping people live with more clarity, confidence, and strength.
